Fun in the Sun

While Tal mowed the grass last Saturday, Savannah and I kept him company on our front porch.

Savannah promptly stretched out her arms and legs, closed her eyes, and basked in the warm sun and light breeze.

Ahh...This is the life!

Savannah's First Road Trip

Last week, we took Savannah to Tal's hometown of Salter Path, NC . It was her first out-of-town trip, and Savannah was a real trouper during the three-hour drive.

During our stay, there were plenty of family and friends who were eager to dote on Savannah. Our baby girl is a blessing to so many people!

Baby Talk

Savannah received a good report when Tal and I took her to the pediatrician for her 6-week check-up today. When Savannah was born, she weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. Today she weighed 9 lbs. 4 oz., which puts her in the 50th percentile.

During the last six weeks, Savannah has grown over two inches--from 20.5 to 22.75 inches. She's in the 90th percentile for her height. Last weekend, Savannah graduated from her newborn to 0-3 month clothes. She's a growing girl!

Overall, Savannah has settled into an eating and sleeping routine. She eats 3-4 oz. every two hours during the day. Most nights Savannah sleeps in 2-3 hour stretches, and I wake up 2-3 times to feed her.

Over the last couple weeks, Savannah has been smiling and cooing more. We love her gummy grins and happy "ahh" sounds. Some of our favorite moments are when she smiles or laughs in her sleep. We'd love to know what Savannah's dreaming about!

Within the last week, Savannah has "discovered" her hands. She often puts her hands near her face, stares at her hands, or grabs my hair when I'm feeding her. We've enjoyed celebrating Savannah's discoveries with her!

Rock-a-Bye Baby

This week Tal and I have discovered that Savannah's swing can be a lifesaver. Savannah is a wonderfully happy baby, but sometimes only the rocking motion of the swing helps to calm her fussiness or put her to sleep (as seen below). Plus, the swing has come in handy when I need a few minutes to eat lunch or take a shower.

Savannah's squishy, puffy cheeks are irresistible!

Check out how much fuller Savannah's cheeks have become since the photo below was taken several weeks ago!

Savannah's One Month Old!

Four weeks ago, this was our darling Savannah--just moments after she was born at 5:43 A.M. on Thursday, February 12, 2009.

Today Savannah is a smiling, bright-eyed baby who has a hearty appetite and loves to snuggle on her daddy's shoulder. She is such a blessing!

At birth, Savannah weighed 6 lbs. 12 oz. Yesterday, Tal weighed Savannah at the lab to find out how much Savannah weighs now. (Tal calibrates weights and measures for the Department of Agriculture.) Savannah's current weight is 8 lbs. 2 oz. She won't be wearing her newborn clothes much longer!

The picture below proves that it's never too early for Take Your Daughter to Work Day. After getting weighed, Savannah ate her lunch with Daddy.
