Curtain Call

Today I hung silver blue curtains in our living room, dining room, and kitchen. I like how the curtains unify all three spaces and create a cohesive color scheme. With new curtains, Tal and I are one step closer to making our main living area feel updated, homey, and colorful.

Screenplay

You might remember our outdated brass fireplace door:

Last night Tal installed a new black fireplace door that will keep Savannah from playing inside our fireplace:

Fireside Chat

This is what our living room looked like last week. Even with our new floors and furniture, our 22-year old red brick fireplace with its brass door seemed outdated.

For that reason, last weekend I spruced up our fireplace with some paint.
Originally, I was planning to paint our fireplace white. However, once I applied the primer, I realized that the white color was too stark for our small living room.

For that reason, I painted our fireplace beige (Valspar Cincinnatian Hotel Briggs Beige #3008-10A) to blend in with our walls and furnishings. I love the results!

Get Buff

Below is a picture of our living room in January:

Over the last 6 months, Tal and I have updated our living room with new floors and furniture:

Most recently, I spent the last five days painting our living room, dining room, and kitchen a neutral buff color (Valspar Warm Buff #3002-10A).

With a neutral color scheme, it's much easier to change pillows and curtains periodically without completely redoing an entire room.

In the coming months, I'm looking forward to shopping for accessories to decorate our bare rooms!

16 Months Old!

I am 16 months old!

When Daddy holds out his hand,
I can "give him five."

I like to blow kisses to Mommy
and Daddy.

I like to sit on the shelf inside the fridge.

I like to carry my purse around the house.
I play with the zippers and take items in and out.

When Mommy says that it's time
to go bye-bye, I grab my
purse--just like Mommy.

I like to show off my belly button.
I can also point to my
nose, eyes, ears, hair, and teeth.

I like to play in my pool on hot days.

When Mommy gives me a spoon,
I love to bang on the trash can,
doors, and pots and pans.

I understand a lot that Mommy and Daddy say to me.
Mommy says, "Are you hungry, Savannah?"
I walk over to my high chair and lift up my arms.

When Mommy gives me a wet rag,
I wash my hands, face, and hair.
I also like to clean the floors.

I'm learning how to show Mommy and Daddy what I want.
When I'm thirsty, I point to my sippy cup.

I loved sitting and playing in Grandma Barbara's
sink over Memorial Day weekend.

When Mommy says, "Savannah give me your pacifer,"
I hand it to Mommy (most of the time).

When Mommy says, "Savannah bring me a book,"
I pick out a book. I take it Mommy, and she reads to me.

Sometimes Mommy says,
"Savannah bring me your shoes. We're going bye-bye."
I pick up my shoes, and Mommy helps me put them on.

Tee Time

During our stay in Salter Path, Tal's mom volunteered to watch Savannah while Tal and I went golfing.

As usual, I happily rode along and read my magazines while Tal played a round of golf. Tal shot an impressive 73!

Afterwards, Tal and I enjoyed a LEISURELY dinner date filled with adult conversation. What a wonderful luxury! :-)

A Three Hour Tour

Over Memorial Day weekend, the weather was warm and sunny during our stay in Salter Path. On Sunday afternoon, Tal's brother, Benny, took all of us out for a 2.5 hour boat ride on Bogue Sound.

It was Savannah's first boat ride, as well as my first ride on the Sound. I had so much fun seeing Salter Path, Atlantic Beach, Morehead City, Beaufort, and Shackleford Banks from the boat. It was a new perspective!

Below Tal and Savannah watch two yellow dogs
swim in the Sound. Savannah got really excited
and started waving and "talking" to the dogs.

During our boat ride, Savannah loved waving
at the birds, boats, and people (as shown below).
Savannah's a friendly little girl!

Not surprising, the rocking motion of the boat made
Savannah fall asleep. She slept for over an hour
in Grandma Barbara's arms. :-)

Swingin' Along

Savannah has always enjoyed
swinging at home...

...and at Grandma's house.

Most recently, however, Savannah has discovered
the joys of swinging at the park...

...and sliding down the slide...

...(with some help from
Mommy and Daddy, of course).

During Memorial Day weekend,
Savannah spent many hours swinging
with Grandma Barbara...

...until Daddy hung a swing for Savannah
on Grandma's front porch.

Now that Savannah's a big girl, she has her own swing
(but she still loves to sit and swing with
Grandma Barbara on her yellow swing).
