Daddy's Sidekick

Last Saturday, the weather was HOT with temps reaching 103 degrees. However, our family had a wonderful time working and playing outside.

Tal and I washed our vehicles and vacuumed the interiors. As usual, Savannah was Tal's sidekick for the entire time. She helped Daddy clean the inside of his truck, as well as scrub and spray the outside. To stay cool, Savannh played with the water hose and spray bottle. It was a perfect day!

Framed

A month ago, our hallway looked like this:

Before

Today our hallway looks like this:

After

I created a picture wall with an assortment of Ribba frames that I picked up at Ikea in June. The inspiration for this project came from one of my favorite DIY blogs. I loved the idea of "wallpapering" our hallway with family photos and mememtos.

During the planning process, I traced the frames, created newspaper templates, and attached them to the wall with painter's tape. Over the next couple days, I arranged and rearranged the templates until all the pieces worked together to create a balanced display.

Then, I used a level and 90 3M Command Strips (which I highly recommend) to hang the pictures and avoid damaging our walls with dozens of nail holes.

In all, I used 29 frames with 4x6, 5x 5, 5x7, and 8x10 pictures. However, the overall effect is subtle and cohesive with the white frames and black and white photos.

Tal and I love the picture wall because it is a reflection of our love for each other and our family. It consists primarily of pictures from our engagement, wedding, and Savannah's first year. It also includes Savannah's artwork and photos of our dads who have passed away.

Next year, I plan to wallpaper the opposite wall with pictures. I look forward to adding and changing the photos, artwork, and mementos as Savannah grows. Stay tuned!

Catch a Wave

Last Friday afternoon, our family enjoyed cooling off in the ocean after helping Benny and EJ move most of the day.

We walked to the beach behind Grandma Barbara's house. As usual, Savannah was a bit leery of the ocean waves, but she enjoyed getting her feet wet when Daddy held her hands. Savannah was a good sport!

A Family Affair

On July 1, our family pitched in to help Tal's brother Benny and his fiance EJ move into their new place. Can you spot the cute kiddo in the moving van?

Hiding Places

Savannah found a new hiding place...in our living room's bookcases:
