Sod Summer: Part 4

This afternoon Tal and I rented a sod cutter and spent 1.5 hours
cutting and rolling the sod in our front yard:

The sod cutter was heavy and cumbersome, so
Grandma Barbara (seen below)
and I took turns pulling it while Tal pushed and directed the machine.
Obviously, Barbara wasn't prepared to work in the yard
when she put on her high heels this morning. :-)

This week, Tal and I will dump the sod in
Tal's truck and then take it to the yard waste landfill.
(Thankfully, a couple friends and neighbors have
already taken some of our old sod for their yards,
which makes our job a lot easier.)

While Tal and I worked in the yard, Savannah entertained herself
in the garage by eating applesauce and watching Doc McStuffins on the iPad.
She was such a good girl!

If everything goes as planned, Tal and I will put down compost
and sod in our front yard within the next couple weeks:

Tal and I are making progress as revamp our yard:
  • Remove the 5 holly bushes in our front yard
  • Repair or replace in-ground irrigation system
  • Remove sod in front yard
  • Put down compost
  • Lay down sod in front yard
  • On both sides of our house, remove grass and weeds
  • On both sides of our house, put down landscape fabric and mulch for weed control
