Hadley's Nursery/Big Girl Bedroom: Seaside Floral and Cottage Stripe Bedding

Tal and I are making progress on Hadley's Nursery/Big Girl Bedroom!

Last week I painted the walls Bubble Bath by Olympic:

This week Tal attached the Juliette Tufted headboard from Target...

...and I added the bedding to Hadley's big girl bed:

I paired the Cottage Stripe duvet with Seaside Floral sheets (both from PBteen):

Over a year ago, I bought the extra sheets and duvet for Savannah's bedroom,
but I decided to use them on Hadley's bed instead (and I saved around $170 by doing so):

My goal is to create a nursery and big girl bedroom
that will grow with Hadley for the next 5-10 years:

The bedding is cheerful, girly, and sophisticated...

...as well as coordinates with Savannah's bedroom

...and offers lots of colors that I can build the color scheme around:

Stay tuned to see how Hadley's bedroom comes together!

Hadley's Nursery/Big Girl Bedroom:Juliette Tufted Headboard

Hadley's Nursery/Big Girl bedroom is coming together!

Last week I painted the room pale pink (Bubble Bath by Olympic):

This week Tal attached a hot pink tufted headboard to Hadley's big girl bed:

The headboard adds some girly sophistication and coordinates beautifully
with Hadley's Seaside Floral sheets and Cottage Stripe duvet from PBteen:

Over the next few weeks, I'll be adding curtains and
some personal touches to Hadley's bedroom!

Little Big Town Concert

Last night Savannah had a blast at her first concert!

Savannah is a huge Little Big Town fan
and knows the words to many of their songs:

The concert was held at a local outdoor amphitheatre...

...where we set-up our blanket and chairs on the lawn:

While Savannah waited for Little Big Town to perform,
she acted silly, ate snacks, took walks by the lake, and played games on the iPad:

Wearing Mommy's sunglasses

Having a snack

Eating frozen lemonade

Tal and Savannah

After waiting 3 hours, Little Big Town took the stage at 9:30 P.M.
and played for 1.5 hours. Little Big Town put on a great concert.
They sang and harmonized really well in person.

We waited all night to hear Savannah's favorite song, Pontoon. Unfortunately, Savannah and I were in the bathroom when Little Big Town started singing,
"Makin' waves and catchin' rays up on the roof."
When Savannah heard Pontoon, she said, "Mommy, I'm trying to pee as fast as I can!" Ha!
Savannah and I sang and danced to Pontoon as we walked back to our seats.

Drainage Pipes

Over the last few years, Tal and I have had a problem with the rain water from our gutters washing away the mulch in our flower beds and causing erosion. To address this problem, last Saturday, Tal and I installed three drainage pipes to redirect the rain water around the exterior of our house:

1. Next to the garage

2. Outside our home gym

3. Next to our deck

First, Tal attached the drainage pipe to the gutter:

Then, we dug a shallow trench for the pipes...

...and covered them with mulch:

Tal and I spread the remaining mulch in the flower beds in the front of our house:

In case you've been counting (like we have), this is the EIGHTH truckload of mulch that Tal and I have unloaded and spread in 2014. Tal and I joke that we hope we don't see another truckload of mulch for the rest of the year. Ha!

Hadley's First Gift

Hadley received her first gift...and it was from Savannah!

Last week when Savannah and Grandma Barbara were shopping at a department store, Savannah asked if she could buy the sleeper below for Hadley. Savannah was so happy and proud to give her gift to her little sister. Hadley will look adorable in her pink and brown sleeper this winter!

Savannah's Lighthouse

Last week Savannah attended Vacation Bible School at Grandma Barbara's church.
At VBS, Savannah painted this creative lighthouse.
Notice that the lighthouse base is an upside down plate,
the body consists of two upside down flower pots,
and the top is a solar LED light (that really lights up):

Didn't Savannah do a beautiful job painting her lighthouse
pink and turquoise?!

Hadley's Nursery/Big Girl Bedroom: Bubble Bath by Olympic

This week I spent three evenings painting
Hadley's nursery/big girl bedroom:

Before

The color is Bubble Bath by Olympic:

It's a pretty pale pink color...

...that coordinates nicely
with the crib and big girl bedding for Hadley's room:

Since the bedding is bright and colorful, I wanted the paint color
to complement the bedding...but not overpower it:

Over the next couple weeks, Tal will be attaching the headboard to Hadley's big girl bed,
while I will be adding the bedding.
Stay tuned!
